What is the difference between the NDIS, the NDIA and Northcott?

In 2013 the Australian government launched the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is the independent statutory agency whose role is to implement the scheme. The scheme provides funding to support people with disability to live their life with choice and control.

Northcott is a registered disability service provider, we provide disability support to children and adults with disability, their family and carers.

What are the benefits of working with an NDIS provider in the disability sector? And how do I get started?

The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) supports over half a million Australians and is rapidly growing with more and more job opportunities. Being part of industry means you are contributing to creating an inclusive Australia for children and adults of all abilities.

As an inclusive workplace we support our team with flexible working arrangements, like part time, full time or casual employment, workplace adjustments, individual support, ongoing training, support with study commitments, further job opportunities, access to training resources as well as opportunities to further your education and undertake a certificate iii, certificate iv or university courses to further your education.

All NDIS providers will require you to complete an NDIS worker check as a minimum. Depending on the role you are interested in, there may be specific requirements including qualifications, skills and experience. Your passion and commitment to inclusion and supporting people with disability is also crucial to your success in any role.

We have employment opportunities in full time, part time and casual roles across many fields. This includes disability support workers (carers), support coordinators, clinicians, health professionals, nursing staff, business administration staff and professionals from other industries. Past experience in health and community services sector may support your application but it is not a requirement.

A career supporting NDIS participants within the national disability services industry is a fulfilling career changing lives and making an impact.
